Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture for Marketing, Abdullah Tarawneh, said the ministry had issued a circular to all exporters not to export fruits and vegetables to Iraq as the border is still closed.

President of the Jordanian Association of Exporters and Producers of vegetables and Fruits, Zuhair Jwayhan, denied reports published by some papers that borders have been reopened and called on the media to corroborate their stories because such unverified news may cause further damage to farmers who pick their products and prepare them for export on the grounds that the Iraqi borders are open.

Jwayhan called for an immediate intervention by the government to save Jordanian agriculture from collapse to support air freight of agricultural products to European markets.
