Cherries

Scientific name is Prunuscerasus, Native area extends through most of Europe, southwest of Asia and parts of Caspian Sea and Black sea. The skin color is generally deep red with a sour flavor. Cherry trees range in height from 4 to 10 meters.

Iran, Turkey and The United States are the major cherry-producer countries in the world.

The most important sorts of cherry produced in Iran are Bing and Protiva, which are cultivated in Mashhad province, where cherry is harvested from the beginning to the middle of summer time.
